Marvell Thompson of TF North is the WFF’s February Athlete of the Month for his outstanding performances in the 60 (7.28), the 200 (23.25), the 60 High Hurdles (8.84) and his contributions to the relay teams. This senior All-State sprinter is also a solid student and a team leader.

Aliyah Harmon of Rich Central is the Athlete of the Month for her track & field performances in February.  Ailyah ran 8.16 in the 60 meter dash and jumped 18' 8" in the long jump and 38' 1.25" in the triple jump.  Aliyah's current GPA is a 3.076 and she plans on attending Texas Tech University this Fall.

Thornwood’s Kenneth Allen is the WFF’s March Athlete of the Month. The T-Bird Senior finished the indoor season rated the fastest quarter miler in the state with a :49.31 to his credit. A team leader, Allen also posted a :22.94 in the 200 and anchored all of Thornwood’s relays. Kenneth has a strong work ethic on the track and in the classroom with a 3.33 GPA.

Ivory Cassell is the March Athlete of the Month for her outstanding performances in 3 individual events and anchoring Bloom Townships relay teams: Triple Jump, 37’-2’ for the 7th best jump in Illinois this indoor season, in the long jump 18’-3” for the 10th best jump in the state, strong finishes in the sprint relays and recording a 7.89 in the open 60 meter dash. Ivory is also a solid student currently posting a 2.9 GPA.

Leo’s Marlon Britton is the WFF’s May Athlete of the Month. At the Chicago Catholic League Championships on May 11th, Marlon won the 110Hurdles with a season best 14.18 and anchored their winning 4x100 at 43.57. Marlon repeated this double with the same results at the Sectional on May 17th . At the State Meet, the Leo senior defended his title in the 110 Hurdles in 14.47 and anchored their 4x100 in 43.16 for a 3rd place finish.

Elexis Fairley, senior at Morgan Park is the WFF’s May Athlete of the Month. On May 4th at the Chicago Public League Championships, Elexis won the 100 in 12.02 and was 4th in the 200 25.22 and at the Sectional she posted a 12.67 for 3rd and 25.33 for 4th. At State Elexis was runner-up in the 100 in 12.00 and 6th in the 200 at 25.21.

Matthew King, Thornwood’s Cross Country Ace has been named the Winged foot Foundation’s September Athlete of the Month. No stranger to hard work, Matthew ran over 1,000 miles over the Summer preparing for his final XC season. The results are impressive; Matthew has been T’Wood’s #1 all season, finished in the top 20 of every Invitational in September and has recorded a personal record of 15:42 for 3 miles.

The Ladie’s WWF Athlete of the Month Award goes to Thornwood’s Deandra Stokes. The Thornwood Junior has finished in the top 20 in all her September races with a personal record time of 19.10 for 3 miles. Deandra is also an excellent student.

The WFF Athlete of the Month for October is Bryan Quinonez of Kennedy High School in Chicago. The Crusader Senior was the Regional Champ at 15:55, 6th place at the Sectional with a 15:45 and 15th place at the State Meet (ALL- STATE HONORS) with a personal best 15:16.

For the Girls, Joliet West’s Charlotte Youell is the WFF October Athlete of the Month. Only a sophomore, Charlotte took 5th at the Regional, 16th at the Sectional and 145th place at the State Meet with her 19:00 personal record time .
